Beauty 411: June & July Beauty Box Five

The June & July Beauty Box Fives' were an introduction to an entire of host of brands I've never been exposed to. Fantastic mascaras to dessert inspired body washes...it was fun to be a beauty blogger! The timing couldn't have been better either as I had just about everything I needed for our recent trip to Napa. Just because you're traveling doesn't mean you have to scrimp on quality. Win-win!
  1. Organix Coconut Water Shampoo & Conditioner: If your hair is thirsty from the sun, then this is the perfect marriage to whip it into shape. It's light and hydrating leaving your hair silky and shiny. Good enough to eat!
  2. Nicka K New York Nail Color: Almost chip-proof and formaldehyde-free, too. I love this color for my pedicures.
  3. HASK Argan Oil Hair Treatment: This deep conditioning treatment is the perfect follow up to the Organix products. You'll notice the softness last about two weeks on average. It's a little heavy for oily hair but would be a great savior in the colder months.
  4. Anna Naturals Glowing Mama Walnut Face & Body Scrub: This scrub has a secret fan base in the pregnancy crowd. It smells divine while gently exfoliating without harsh chemicals or scents. Bonus: it didn't scrape my skin off.
  5. Vita Bath Body Wash: I could eat this body wash, too. It smells like cupcakes. A real eye opener in the AM. Also, a great way to end the evening in a big ol' tub with a glass of wine.
  6. Revlon Bold Lacquer Mascara: I was in the market to try a new brand. I love the fact that it doesn't flake and I can ditch my curler in the interim. It's all about volume with a new, technology-forward wand.
  7. Eslor Collection Calming Kit: Basically an entire skincare kit in handy little packets including a refiner, cleanser, scrub, mask and soothing cream. My favorite was the soothing cream which felt heavy but absorbed quick without weighing my skin down. I was squeezing every last drop out. (rather pathetic to watch but hey! I like what I like...)
  8. Body Drench Candy Licious Lips: My girls steal this chap stick from me on the regular. Beeswax, Coconut Oil and Vitamin E leave my skin feeling soft and supple without the greasy residue. And the scent isn't overwhelming, either.
  9. Starlooks Lip Liner: Another great nude liner! Creamy and matte...it works great under my neutral glosses without any bleeding. Every gal needs a great nude liner. The hue would suit just about any skin tone, too!
  10. Glam Natural Mascara: I used this puppy right up. It has this amazing gluten-free, paraben-free formula that allows you to layer away without the cakey appearance. It forms a coat around each last that washes off with regular soap and water. I absolutely LOVED this mascara. Good to the last drop!
Next up, August which is all about prepping your skin for the climate change! Be sure to follow Beauty Box Five on Facebook and Twitter, too.

Q2 Style Round Up

all photography by Cleodine Photography

If you remember my Q1 Style Round Up, it was heavy on layers and pants. Exactly the opposite of my Q2 recap! Skirts and dresses on repeat with bold color infused throughout. Truly, dresses make summer my favorite season. The ritual of getting dressed is so much easier - there's something to be said for that. Especially when you're a mom and trying to get everyone else out the door in the morning!

The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale - simplified!

Greetings! I'm back from Napa and I've wasted no time in rounding up my favorites from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. This is one of those "run-don't-walk-sales" because prices go up as of 8/4/14 and quantities are limited. As hard as it is for me to digest the concept of Fall...it's here. Secretly, I'm a little excited for leather and oxblood again but you didn't hear it from me.

Happy shopping! xo

Crop it like it's hot!

photography by Cleodine Photography

You've probably noticed my posting is a little delayed this week and if you follow me on Instagram, then you definitely know that I've been drinking my weight in red wine. My husband and I are celebrating our anniversary in Napa. It's been the most relaxed I've been in years. Then again, I suppose wine will do that to you.

Roses & the Bouqs. Company

Fresh flowers rank among the top of my list when it comes to making a home a home. Ballet, pink roses might just be my favorite. Thanks to the Bouqs Company, these gorgeous roses have left a heavy scent throughout my entire first floor...it's divine.

You might have caught them originally on Shark Tank which is where I first saw them. Not only can you receive your Bouq the next day, you can be assured that your arrangement is grown on eco-friendly, sustainable farms nurtured by melted volcanic ice. They only cut when you order reducing the amount of wasted stems other companies encounter. I like the sound of that.

Pattern play.

photography by Cleodine Photography
Along the lines of taking risks, you could've probably guessed that I am a sucker, straight up, for patterns. Including this hazy mirage dress. It's more contemporary than most of my closet but I love the color palette. Especially the cobalt blue. It just begs for a killer pair of nude heels.

Weekly Wrap Up + Links

Confession: This week has been ultra intense as we prepare for our trip. Currently, my powder room toliet is overflowing. My husband is working from home waiting for a plumber while I feverishly work on the train in preparation for my first meeting today.

Nobody said it was glamorous! But, on a happier note, here's what happened in our world this week:
  1. Date night fringe, gold and tirmasu.
  2. I received the most gorgeous, pink roses from The Bouqs Company. Review to follow next week!
  3. Who knew you guys would love this LBD so much? Thank you for the sweet comments!
  4. My bikini survival kit. Run out and get yourself some Completely Bare products. #completelybaresummer
  5. I just love this age - she makes my heart happy.
  6. Olivia and I had a girl's night and I created "Elsa" braids for her. #obsessed.
Here are some cool things that happened in the rest of the world:
  1. Heidi Klum's palatial estate.
  2. I love this fit & flare drop waist dress! Such a steal!
  3. 10 European cities to visit in the summer.
  4. Berry lemonade popsicles
  5. All aboard the pineapple express!
  6. 10 fast weeknight dinners - grocery list included!

5 LWD's you need right this minute!

If Winter is the new black, then Summer is the new white. LWD, that is. If there was ever a time to buy your LWD - little white dress - it would be now! I found a myriad of choices on Shopbop...too many to choose from, in fact. My personal favorite is the Lela Rose. The laser cut details are so elegant. It could translate to cooler weather so well with a cropped, moto jacket.

Then again, the Free People dress is so right now! As for my other designer favorites...check out 5th & MercerReverse and American Vintage.

Happy shopping! xo

Chain gang + a style link up!

photography by Cleodine Photography
Does this dress look familiar? It should because you saw it in red, too. I loved it so much I got it in another color. It's just so classic. As far as I'm concerned, everyone needs about five really good LBD's. Maybe that's just me.
